PayPal Fees in Australia (2026)

By Selling Fee Tools team ·

PayPal’s fees for Australian business accounts are among the simplest it publishes: one main rate, one international fee, and a cheap QR code rate. This guide lists them from PayPal’s Australian Merchant Fees page (last updated by PayPal on 13 October 2026), checked in October 2026.

Fees shown on a A$100 payment. Buyers whose PayPal account is registered outside Australia add 1.00%. A A$20 QR payment costs A$0.24.

Fixed fees and conversion

  • The fixed fee follows the currency you receive: A$0.30 in Australian dollars, US$0.30 in US dollars, NZ$0.45, €0.35 and £0.20, from a table of 24 currencies.
  • PayPal’s exchange rate includes 3.0% above the base rate for most conversions, including converting a payment you received, and 4.0% for a few listed cases such as paying in a currency other than the listing currency or refunds after a day.
  • PayPal’s Combined Financial Services Guide and Product Disclosure Statement prevails if it differs from the fees page.

What to charge

To receive exactly A$100 from a buyer in Australia, ask for A$103.30.

On a Shopify store in Australia, Shopify Payments charges 1.7% + 30¢ on Basic for domestic cards: A$2.00 on A$100, against A$3.20 through PayPal Checkout. See Shopify Payments fees by country.
