How it works

Enter the item price, the shipping the buyer pays and the label cost. The rate comes from Meta’s Marketplace Seller Protection Policy and Checkout Terms for the US, linked below the calculator. It covers orders you ship and are paid for through Facebook.

The selling fee. Meta charges individual sellers 10% of each transaction, with a minimum of $0.80. The 10% is taken from the whole transaction: the item prices, any delivery fees and applicable taxes. Items sent together in one shipment count as one transaction, so they pay one fee. The fee is rounded to the cent.

The minimum. On any order under $8 in total, 10% is less than $0.80, so the minimum applies. On a $5 item that is 16% of the price, which makes cheap items expensive to ship through Marketplace.

Shipping and tax. Add the sales tax on the order if you know it: the fee rises with it, but the tax itself isn’t counted as your money. The label cost is taken from your payout, whether or not the buyer paid for shipping.

5% or 10%? Some older Meta pages still give 5%, or 5% with a $0.40 flat fee for small shipments. Those described checkout on Facebook and Instagram shops. Meta’s current Marketplace terms say 10%, so the calculator uses that. Your listing shows the fee before you sell.

Profit. Add the item’s cost to see your profit and margin.

FAQ

How much does Facebook Marketplace charge to sell?

For shipped orders in the US, Meta’s Marketplace terms set a selling fee of 10% of each transaction, with a minimum of $0.80. The 10% is worked out on the whole transaction: item price, delivery fees and taxes. A $50 item with $8 shipping and no tax pays a $5.80 fee.

Is the Facebook Marketplace fee 5% or 10%?

Meta’s Marketplace Seller Protection Policy and Checkout Terms say 10% with an $0.80 minimum, and this calculator follows them. Older Meta pages still mention 5%, and a Commerce Manager help page gives 5% or $0.40 for shipments of $8 or less, which covered checkout on Facebook and Instagram shops. Check the fee shown when you list.

When does the $0.80 minimum apply?

Whenever 10% of the transaction comes to less than $0.80, which means any order totalling under $8 with shipping and tax. A $5 item with no shipping charge pays $0.80, 16% of the price, and a $7 item pays the same $0.80. From $8 upwards the fee is simply 10%.

Does Facebook charge its fee on shipping and tax?

Yes. The terms say the selling fee is calculated on the entire amount of the transaction, including the sale prices of the goods, any delivery fees and applicable taxes. So $8 of shipping adds $0.80 to the fee, and sales tax adds 10% of the tax. Several items dispatched together count as one transaction.

Who pays for shipping labels on Marketplace?

You do. Meta’s Seller Protection Policy asks sellers to ship with labels issued through Meta, and the label is a cost to you. If the buyer paid for shipping, that money offsets the label; if you offered free shipping, the whole label is your cost. Enter the label price in the calculator to see what you keep.

How much do I keep on a Facebook Marketplace sale?

Roughly 90% of the item price and buyer-paid shipping, less the label. On a $50 item with $8 shipping and an $8 label, you receive $44.20. With $4.64 of sales tax on the order, the fee rises to $6.26 and you receive $43.74. An item that cost you $15 leaves $28.74 profit.
