How it works

Choose whether you ship the order yourself or Amazon ships it with FBA, then enter the sale and your costs. Every rate comes from Amazon’s UK pricing page, linked below the calculator.

Referral fee. Each category has its own rate on the total sales price: the item price plus delivery and gift wrap. Some charge one rate on the whole price depending on where it falls, such as Baby Products at 8% up to £10 and 15% above; others charge a lower rate on the part above a threshold, such as Jewellery at 20% up to £225 and 5% above. Most categories charge at least £0.25.

Plans and FBA. The Individual plan adds £0.75 per item. The Professional plan costs £25 a month; enter your monthly orders to spread it over each sale. With FBA, enter the fulfilment fee for your product’s size tier from Amazon’s rate card; Amazon delivers, so delivery isn’t charged or paid.

VAT. Amazon quotes its fees excluding VAT, so 20% is added unless you’re VAT-registered and reclaim it. A VAT-registered seller owes VAT on the sale, one sixth of the VAT-inclusive price, which the calculator takes off your profit.

Profit. What Amazon pays out is the sale minus every fee. Profit takes off your item, delivery and other costs. Set a profit target to see the lowest price that reaches it, and copy a link to share the exact numbers.

Example

A £25.00 item with free delivery, costing £11.50 in total, shipped by the seller (FBM) on the Professional plan.

SellerFeesTotal feesProfit
Not VAT-registered15% of £25.00 + 20% VAT£4.50£9.00
VAT-registered15% of £25.00, VAT owed £4.17£3.75£5.58
Individual plan, VAT-registered£3.75 + £0.75 per item£4.50£4.83

A £60.00 dress sent with FBA pays a referral fee of 15% of the first £40 (£6.00) and 7% of the other £20 (£1.40): £7.40. Sent by the seller it would pay 15% of £60.00, £9.00.

FAQ

How much does Amazon UK charge per sale?

Amazon.co.uk charges a referral fee on each item: a percentage of the total sales price, which includes delivery and gift wrap, or £0.25 if that is more. Most categories are 15%; most rates fall between 8% and 15%. Professional sellers pay £25 a month, Individual sellers £0.75 per item, and FBA adds a fulfilment fee per unit.

Do Amazon UK fees include VAT?

No. Amazon quotes its referral fees, selling plans and FBA fees excluding VAT, and sellers established in the UK are charged 20% VAT on them. If you’re VAT-registered you can usually reclaim that VAT, but you owe VAT on your sales, one sixth of a VAT-inclusive price. Tick I’m VAT-registered to see both.

What is the Amazon UK referral fee for clothing?

Clothing and Accessories is 5% for items at or up to £15, 10% between £15 and £20, and 15% above £20. For FBA and Seller Fulfilled Prime items with a total price above £40, it is 15% of the first £40 and 7% of the rest. These lower rates came in with Amazon’s 2026 fee changes.

Is the referral fee charged on delivery?

Yes. Amazon works out the referral fee on the total sales price: the item price plus any delivery and gift wrap charges the buyer pays. With FBA, Amazon handles delivery, so the fee is on the item price and gift wrap, and you pay the FBA fulfilment fee instead of postage.

Should I choose the Individual or Professional plan?

Individual costs £0.75 per item sold and Professional £25 a month, both excluding VAT, so Professional is cheaper once you sell more than 33 items a month. Professional also opens restricted categories and bulk tools. Enter your monthly orders to spread the £25 across each sale in the calculator.

Which Amazon UK categories have no minimum referral fee?

Books, Grocery and Gourmet, Music, Video and DVD, Software, Video Games and Gaming Accessories, and Video Game Consoles have no per-item minimum. Every other category charges at least £0.25 per item. The media categories also carry a closing fee, which is shown in Seller Central and isn’t included here.
