How it works
Choose whether you ship the order yourself or Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) ships it, pick the category, and enter the sale and your costs. Every rate comes from Walmart’s Marketplace pricing page, linked below the calculator.
Referral fee. Each category has its own rate on the total sales price, which includes shipping and handling, gift wrap and other charges. Some charge one rate on the whole price depending on where it falls, such as Apparel at 5%, 10% or 15%; others charge less on the part above a threshold, such as Jewelry at 20% up to $250 and 5% above. There is no minimum fee.
WFS fulfillment. Enter the packaged weight and dimensions. Under 1 lb the unit weight counts; from 1 lb the greater of the unit weight and the dimensional weight (L × W × H ÷ 139). Walmart adds 0.25 lb for packaging and rounds up to the pound, then applies its weight table and any extras for apparel, hazmat, prices under $10 or oversize items. Big & bulky items use their own rate.
Storage. Enter how many days a unit sits in a Walmart fulfillment center on average. The calculator uses the January to September rate of $0.75 per cubic foot a month, charged by the day.
Profit. Payout is the sale minus every fee. Profit takes off your item, shipping and other costs; with WFS there is no shipping of your own to pay. Set a profit target to see the lowest price that reaches it, and copy a link to share the exact numbers.
Example
A $25.00 item in Everything Else, 1.2 lb in a 10 × 8 × 3 in box, costing $8.00 plus $0.50 of prep.
| Fulfillment | Fees | Total fees | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| You ship it for $5.00 | 15% of $25.00 | $3.75 | $7.75 |
| WFS, 30 days in storage | $3.75 + $4.95 at 2 lb + $0.10 storage | $8.80 | $7.70 |
| WFS at $9.00 | $1.35 + $4.95 + $1.00 under $10 + $0.10 | $7.40 | −$6.90 |
The box’s dimensional weight is 10 × 8 × 3 ÷ 139 = 1.73 lb, more than its 1.2 lb, so with 0.25 lb of packaging the shipping weight rounds up to 2 lb. Walmart’s own examples, $7.75 for a 6 lb widget and $267.80 for a 230.4 lb massage chair, give the same results in the calculator.

FAQ
How much does Walmart Marketplace charge sellers?
Walmart charges a referral fee on each sale, a percentage of the total sales price that depends on the category. Most categories are 15%, electronics and computers are lower, and there is no minimum fee. Walmart says there are no setup or monthly fees. If you use Walmart Fulfillment Services, you also pay fulfillment and storage fees.
Is the Walmart referral fee charged on shipping?
Yes. Walmart’s total sales price includes the item price plus shipping and handling, gift wrap and other charges, and the referral fee is a percentage of that total. A $20 item with $5 shipping in a 15% category pays $3.75. With WFS the customer usually pays no separate shipping, so the fee is on the item price.
What are Walmart’s apparel referral fees?
Apparel & Accessories is charged on the whole price at one rate: 5% for items with a total sales price of $15 or less, 10% between $15 and $20, and 15% above $20. A $15 T-shirt pays $0.75, a $20 one $2.00 and a $25 one $3.75, so pricing just under a threshold can save fees.
How is the WFS fulfillment fee worked out?
Walmart uses the unit weight for items under 1 lb. From 1 lb up, it takes the unit weight or the dimensional weight, length × width × height ÷ 139, whichever is greater. It adds 0.25 lb for packaging and rounds up to the pound. A 2 lb shipping weight costs $4.95, and Walmart’s own 6 lb example in a 12 × 10 × 10 in box costs $7.75.
What extra WFS fees can apply?
Standard items add $0.50 if they are clothing, $0.50 for hazardous materials such as aerosols or batteries, and $1 if the retail price is under $10. Oversize items add $3, or $20 for the largest, which also start at 90 lb. Items over 150 lb or over 108 inches long are big & bulky: $155 plus $0.80 per lb above 90 lb.
How much does WFS storage cost?
Storage is $0.75 per cubic foot per month from January to September, charged by the day. From October to December, items stored more than 30 days pay $1.50 more per cubic foot, and anything stored more than 12 months pays $2.25. Walmart’s example: a 10 × 5.9 × 5.9 in item stored for 90 days costs $0.45.
