How it works

Enter one order: the item price, what the buyer pays for shipping, and what the item, postage and packaging cost you. Pick the category and, if creators sell it for you, their commission rate. Every rate comes from TikTok Shop’s US Seller Center, and the date they were last checked is shown under the calculator.

Referral fee. TikTok Shop charges a percentage of the customer payment plus any platform discount, minus tax. That base includes the shipping the buyer pays. Tax collected from the buyer is never part of it. Most categories pay 6%. Precious-metal and gemstone jewelry and all Pre-Owned categories pay 5%, and in Collectibles and Pre-Owned the part of a sale over $10,000 pays 3%.

No other platform fees. TikTok Shop says the referral fee covers all its fees except shipping and tax, so there is no separate payment processing fee. Platform-funded discounts are counted in TikTok’s base but aren’t modelled here, because TikTok pays them to you on top of what the buyer paid.

Creator commission. If you run affiliate campaigns, the commission is your rate times the price the buyer paid for the item, charged on top of the referral fee. It doesn’t apply to shipping, and it isn’t charged on orders that no creator brought in.

Profit. What you keep is the item price and shipping, minus the referral fee, commission, item, postage and other costs. Enter a target profit to get the lowest price that reaches it, and see the same sale on eBay, Etsy, Amazon and Shopify below the calculator.

FAQ

How much does TikTok Shop take from a sale?

In the US, TikTok Shop charges a referral fee of 6% in most categories. It is calculated on the customer payment plus any platform discount, minus tax, so it includes the shipping the buyer pays. A $50 item with $8 shipping pays $3.48. TikTok says the referral fee covers all its fees except shipping and tax.

Which categories pay 5%?

Five jewelry subcategories, Diamond, Gold, Jade, Platinum or Carat Gold, and Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, pay 5%, as do all Pre-Owned categories. In Collectibles and Pre-Owned, the part of a sale above $10,000 is charged 3%. Everything else, 189 of 206 categories, pays 6%.

Is there a separate payment processing fee?

No. TikTok Shop describes the referral fee as covering all TikTok Shop fees except shipping and tax, so there is no separate card or processing charge for US sellers. Shipping labels bought through TikTok Shipping are a separate cost: put what you pay for postage in Your shipping cost so it comes off your profit.

How is creator commission calculated?

Affiliate commission is the rate you set for creators multiplied by the price the buyer actually paid for the item, after refunds. It is paid on top of the referral fee. A 15% commission on a $50 item costs $7.50, which takes total fees on the example sale to $10.98.

What about refunds?

When you refund an order, TikTok returns the referral fee minus a refund administration fee of 20% of that referral fee, capped at $5 per SKU. This calculator prices a completed sale that wasn’t returned, so it doesn’t estimate the cost of refunds or returns.

Does this cover TikTok Shop UK or other countries?

No. These rates are for TikTok Shop US, from the US Seller Center. Other countries have their own referral fees and rules. Since November 2025, sellers registered in West Virginia or Texas also pay sales tax on their referral fees, which isn’t included here.
