By Selling Fee Tools team ·
Five popular resale apps, five different ways of charging. This guide puts them side by side for US sellers, using each platform’s own fee pages, checked in November 2026.
How each one charges
| App | Seller fee | Charged on |
|---|---|---|
| Poshmark | $2.95 under $15, 20% from $15 | item price |
| Mercari | 10% | item + buyer-paid shipping |
| Depop | 3.3% + $0.45 processing; no selling fee | item + shipping + tax |
| Facebook Marketplace | 10%, $0.80 minimum | item + shipping + tax |
| Whatnot | 8% commission + 2.9% + $0.30 processing | item; processing on the order total |
The same sales on each
The buyer pays $8 shipping and the label costs $8; no sales tax, no boosts, Whatnot at its Standard 8% rate. On Poshmark the buyer pays for the label directly. Each figure is what you keep before the item’s cost:
| Item price | Poshmark | Mercari | Depop | Whatnot | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| $15 | $12.00 | $12.70 | $13.79 | $12.70 | $12.83 |
| $40 | $32.00 | $35.20 | $37.97 | $35.20 | $35.11 |
| $100 | $80.00 | $89.20 | $95.99 | $89.20 | $88.57 |
What the numbers say
- Depop keeps the least when you don’t boost: only payment processing. A 12% boost changes that.
- Mercari and Facebook Marketplace come out the same here: both take 10% of the item and shipping.
- Whatnot is close to them at the Standard tier, and cheaper at higher tiers or for coins at 4%.
- Poshmark takes the most on items over $15, but its buyers pay their own shipping label, and it has no processing fee.
Fees are only part of the choice: the buyers, the category and how much time each app takes matter as much.
