How it works
Choose your selling plan, then enter the sale: the item price and postage the buyer paid, and what the item, postage and packaging cost you. Every rate comes from eBay’s own fee pages for eBay.com.au, linked below the calculator, for sellers registered in Australia.
Free selling. Australia-based sellers without a Pro plan and with AU $25,000 or less in sales over the past 12 months pay no final value fee. The calculator adds the 3% international sales fee when the buyer is overseas.
eBay Pro. The final value fee is a percentage of the total sale, the item price plus postage, up to $4,000, and a lower 2.5% or 2.75% above that. Pro Starter charges 13.4% everywhere; Basic, Featured and Anchor charge by category tier, lowest for home appliances and technology devices. Each order also pays $0.30 on Starter or $0.33 on paid plans, and overseas orders pay a 1.1% international sales fee.
Extras. Below Standard sellers pay 5.5% of the sale on top, or 6.6% after four months. Promoted Listings charge your ad rate on the total sale. All fees include GST; if you’re registered for GST, tick the box to see the GST you claim back on fees and the GST you owe on the sale.
Which plan. The table under the calculator works out this sale on every Pro plan and how many such sales a month cover a paid plan’s subscription. Set a profit target to see the lowest price that reaches it, and copy a link to share the exact numbers.
Example
An $80.00 item with $10.00 postage, costing $45.00 in total to buy, post and pack, sold to an Australian buyer in a Tier 2 category.
| Plan | Fees | Total fees | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free selling | none | $0.00 | $45.00 |
| Free selling, buyer overseas | 3% of $90.00 | $2.70 | $42.30 |
| Pro Starter | 13.4% of $90.00 + $0.30 | $12.36 | $32.64 |
| Pro Basic | 11.44% of $90.00 + $0.33 | $10.63 | $34.37 |
For an $800 phone with free postage, Tier 1, the gap is wider: $107.50 in fees on Pro Starter and $64.57 on Pro Basic, a saving of $42.93 that covers the $27.45 monthly plan with a single sale.

FAQ
Is it free to sell on eBay Australia?
For many sellers, yes. If your registered address is in Australia, you don’t have an eBay Pro plan and your sales over the past 12 months total AU $25,000 or less, you pay no final value fees. You still pay a 3% international sales fee on overseas orders and fees for optional upgrades, and generally post with eBay’s prepaid label.
What happens when my sales go over AU $25,000?
eBay checks your sales across all its sites over the past 12 full months each month. Once you’re over AU $25,000 without a Pro plan, it tells you on the 20th and moves you to Pro Starter from the 1st of the next month. Pro Starter has no monthly cost, but you pay 13.4% of each sale plus $0.30 an order.
What are the eBay Pro final value fees?
Pro Starter charges 13.4% in every category. Paid plans charge by category tier: Pro Basic from 8.03% for home appliances and technology devices to 13.09% for fashion, collectables and media; Featured and Anchor less again. Above $4,000 of a sale the rate drops to 2.5% on Starter or 2.75% on paid plans, plus an order fee.
Is a paid eBay Pro plan worth it?
It depends on what you sell. Pro Basic costs $27.45 a month and saves most on Tier 1 items: an $800 phone costs $107.50 in fees on Pro Starter and $64.57 on Pro Basic, so one sale a month covers the plan. The table under the calculator works this out for your own sale.
Do eBay Australia fees include GST?
Yes. Fees on eBay.com.au are shown and charged including 10% GST for sellers registered in Australia, unless you’ve given eBay your ABN and registered for tax-exempt status. If you’re registered for GST you can usually claim back the GST in the fees, one eleventh, and you owe one eleventh of your Australian sales.
What is the international sales fee on eBay Australia?
Sellers registered in Australia pay it when the delivery address is outside Australia: 3% of the total sale with free selling, or 1.1% on an eBay Pro plan. Like the final value fee, it is worked out on the total amount of the sale, including the item price, postage and any tax.
