How it works

Choose whether you ship the order yourself or Amazon ships it with FBA, then enter the sale and your costs. Every rate comes from Amazon’s Australian pricing page, sell.amazon.com.au, linked below the calculator.

Referral fee. Each category has its own rate on the total sales price: the item price plus delivery and gift wrap. Some charge one rate on the whole price depending on where it falls, such as Pet Products at 10% up to $20 and 13% above; others charge a lower rate on the part above a threshold, such as Computers at 8% up to $150 and 6% above. There is no minimum fee.

Plans, closing fee and FBA. The Individual plan adds $0.99 per item, and every media item adds a $1.00 closing fee. The Professional plan costs $49.95 a month; enter your monthly orders to spread it over each sale. With FBA, enter the fulfilment fee for your product’s size tier from Amazon’s rate card; Amazon delivers, so delivery isn’t charged or paid.

GST. Amazon quotes its fees excluding GST, so 10% is added unless you’re GST-registered and claim it back. A registered seller owes GST on the sale, one eleventh of the GST-inclusive price, which the calculator takes off your profit.

Profit. What Amazon pays out is the sale minus every fee. Profit takes off your item, delivery and other costs. Set a profit target to see the lowest price that reaches it, and copy a link to share the exact numbers.

A A$20.00 book pays 15% (A$3.00) plus the A$1.00 closing fee: A$4.00, or A$4.40 with GST. A pair of A$80.00 shoes pays 14% of the first A$50 (A$7.00) and 10% of the other A$30 (A$3.00): A$10.00.

FAQ

How much does Amazon Australia charge per sale?

Amazon.com.au charges a referral fee on every item: a percentage of the total sales price, including delivery and gift wrap, with no minimum or maximum. Most rates are between 6% and 15%, and Everything Else is 15%. Professional sellers pay $49.95 a month, Individual sellers $0.99 per item, and media items add a $1.00 closing fee. All fees exclude GST.

Do Amazon Australia fees include GST?

No. Amazon quotes its selling plan, referral and fulfilment fees excluding GST, so 10% is added on top. If you’re registered for GST you can usually claim that back, but you owe GST on your sales: one eleventh of a GST-inclusive price. Tick I’m GST-registered in the calculator to see both sides.

Is there a minimum referral fee on Amazon.com.au?

No. Unlike Amazon in the US, UK or Canada, Amazon Australia has no minimum or maximum referral fee: you pay the category percentage of the total sales price, however small the sale. A $1.00 item in Everything Else pays a referral fee of $0.15, plus GST if you aren’t registered.

What is the Amazon Australia closing fee?

All sellers, on either plan, pay a closing fee of $1.00 for each media item sold. Media covers Books, DVD, Music, Software and Video, Video Games and Gaming Accessories, and Video Game Consoles. The Individual plan’s $0.99 per item is separate and applies to every item sold on that plan, media or not.

Should I choose the Individual or Professional plan in Australia?

Individual costs $0.99 per item sold and Professional $49.95 a month, both excluding GST, so Professional is cheaper once you sell more than 50 items a month. Professional also unlocks advertising, bulk listing tools, APIs and restricted categories. Enter your monthly orders to spread the $49.95 across each sale in the calculator.

How do FBA fees work on Amazon.com.au?

With Fulfilment by Amazon you pay a fee per unit for picking, packing, delivery, customer service and returns, set by size tier and weight. Products with an item price under $13 pay lower fulfilment fees, and Amazon reduced selected fees on 10 June 2026. Enter your fee from Amazon’s rate card; the referral fee still applies.
