How it works
Choose whether you ship the order yourself or Amazon ships it with FBA, then enter the sale and your costs. Every rate comes from Amazon’s Canadian pricing page, sell.amazon.ca, linked below the calculator.
Referral fee. Each category has its own rate on the total price: the item price plus shipping and gift wrap. Some charge one rate on the whole price depending on where it falls, such as Baby Products at 8% up to C$15 and 15% above; others charge a lower rate on the part above a threshold, such as Furniture at 15% up to C$250 and 10% above. Most categories charge at least C$0.40.
Plans and FBA. The Individual plan adds C$1.49 per item. The Professional plan costs C$29.99 a month; enter your monthly orders to spread it over each sale. With FBA, enter the fulfilment fee for your product’s size tier and weight from Amazon’s rate card; Amazon delivers, so shipping isn’t charged or paid.
Tax. Enter prices before GST/HST and provincial sales tax, which go to the government rather than to you. Amazon’s pricing page doesn’t say how GST/HST applies to its fees, so the calculator leaves it out; registered sellers can usually claim it back as an input tax credit.
Profit. What Amazon pays out is the sale minus every fee. Profit takes off your item, shipping and other costs. Set a profit target to see the lowest price that reaches it, and copy a link to share the exact numbers.
Example
A C$25.00 item with free shipping in Everything Else, costing C$11.50 in total, shipped by the seller (FBM).
| Plan | Fees | Total fees | Profit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professional, plan left out | 15% of C$25.00 | C$3.75 | C$9.75 |
| Professional, 100 orders a month | C$3.75 + C$29.99 ÷ 100 | C$4.05 | C$9.45 |
| Individual | C$3.75 + C$1.49 per item | C$5.24 | C$8.26 |
A C$2,000 watch pays 16% of the first C$1,500 (C$240.00) and 3% of the other C$500 (C$15.00): C$255.00. A C$2.00 item in Everything Else pays the C$0.40 minimum, since 15% would be C$0.30.

FAQ
How much does Amazon.ca charge per sale?
Amazon.ca charges a referral fee on every item: a percentage of the total price, including shipping and gift wrap, or a minimum of CAD $0.40 if that is more. Most categories are 15%, and electronics and computers 8%. Professional sellers also pay C$29.99 a month, Individual sellers C$1.49 per item, and FBA adds a fulfilment fee per unit.
What is the Amazon.ca referral fee for clothing?
Clothing and Accessories is 10% for products with a total sales price under C$20 and 17% at C$20 or more, charged on the whole price, with a C$0.40 minimum. That makes the jump at C$20 large: a C$19.99 shirt pays C$2.00, and a C$20.00 one pays C$3.40.
Should I choose the Individual or Professional plan on Amazon.ca?
Individual costs C$1.49 per item sold and Professional C$29.99 a month, so Professional is cheaper once you sell more than 20 items a month. Amazon suggests Professional above about 30 units a month; it also unlocks advertising, bulk listing tools, APIs and restricted categories. Enter your monthly orders to spread the plan across each sale.
Does Amazon charge GST/HST on its fees in Canada?
Amazon’s Canadian pricing page quotes its fees without saying how GST/HST applies. Sellers with a GST/HST number on file are charged GST/HST on referral and FBA fees and can download a Seller Fee Tax Invoice from the Tax Document Library to claim it back. This calculator leaves tax out and works on prices before sales tax.
Which Amazon.ca categories have no minimum referral fee?
Grocery and Gourmet; Media, which covers books, DVDs, music, software and video; Video Games and Gaming Accessories; Video Game Consoles; Toys and Games collectible cards; and extended warranties show no per-item minimum on Amazon’s table. Every other category charges at least C$0.40 per item. Sports Collectibles follow separate category requirements.
How do FBA fees work on Amazon.ca?
With Fulfilment by Amazon you pay a fee per unit for picking, packing, shipping, customer service and returns, based on the size tier and shipping weight. Standard-size items start at C$5.92 for the first 100 g, and products priced under C$14 get rates C$0.80 lower. Enter your fee from Amazon’s rate card; the referral fee still applies.
