How it works
Choose business or private seller, then enter the sale: the item price and postage the buyer paid, and what the item, postage and packaging cost you. Every rate comes from eBay’s own fee pages for eBay.co.uk, linked below the calculator, for sellers registered in the UK.
Total sale. eBay works out its percentage fees on the total amount of the sale: the item price plus postage. UK prices already include any VAT, so that is simply what the buyer paid.
Business sellers. The final value fee is the category’s percentage of the total sale, with lower rates above a price in many categories, plus a per-order fee of 30p up to £10 or 40p above. A 0.35% regulatory operating fee applies to every sale, and an international fee of 1.05% to 2% when the buyer is abroad. Below Standard sellers pay 6 percentage points more; Top-rated sellers get 10% off for Premium Service listings. Business fees exclude VAT, so 20% is added unless you’re VAT-registered and reclaim it.
Private sellers. UK-based private sellers pay no final value fee or regulatory fee. The calculator adds the 3% international fee for an overseas address and a 35p listing fee if you tick it.
Profit. What eBay pays out is the price plus postage, minus every fee. Profit takes off your item, postage and packaging costs, and, for a VAT-registered seller, the VAT you owe on a UK sale. Set a profit target to see the lowest price that reaches it, and copy a link to share the exact numbers.
Example
A £50.00 item with £4.00 postage, costing £24.00 in total to buy, post and pack, sold to a UK buyer in an Everything Else category.

FAQ
How much does eBay UK charge private sellers?
Nothing on most sales. UK-based private sellers pay no final value fee and no regulatory operating fee, and get 300 free listings a month, then 35p a listing. You pay a 3% international fee when the item goes to an address outside the UK, and for optional upgrades such as a subtitle. Vehicles have their own fees.
What are the eBay UK fees for business sellers?
Most categories charge a 12.9% final value fee on the total sale, including postage, plus 30p per order up to £10 or 40p above. A 0.35% regulatory operating fee applies to every sale. Category rates range from 5% for NFTs to 14.9% for jewellery, and many drop to 3% above a price such as £1,000.
Do I pay VAT on eBay fees?
Business seller fees on eBay.co.uk are shown without VAT, and 20% VAT is added. If you’re VAT-registered you can usually reclaim it, but you owe VAT on your UK sales, one sixth of a VAT-inclusive price. Private seller fees already include VAT. Tick I’m VAT-registered to see both sides.
What is the eBay international fee in the UK?
For business sellers registered in the UK it depends on the delivery address: 1.05% for the Eurozone and Northern Europe, 1.8% for the US and Canada, and 2% everywhere else. Private sellers pay 3% for any address outside the UK. The fee is a percentage of the total sale, including postage.
Does eBay charge fees on postage?
Yes. The final value fee, the regulatory operating fee and the international fee are all worked out on the total amount of the sale, which includes the item price, postage and any taxes. Charging more for postage doesn’t avoid fees. One exception: Trainers sent with a free Authenticity Guarantee label.
Is an eBay Shop worth it for a UK business seller?
On eBay.co.uk a Shop doesn’t lower the final value fee; it cuts listing fees. Without a Shop each listing costs 30p. A Basic Shop at £27 a month includes 250 fixed price listings, then 10p each; Featured at £77 includes 1,500 and 5p after; Anchor at £437 makes fixed price listings free.
