Amazon Referral Fees by Category (US)

Amazon’s main selling fee is the referral fee: a percentage of the total sales price, which includes the item price, delivery and gift wrap, but not tax. Each category has its own rate, and most have a $0.30 minimum per item. This guide lists them all from Amazon’s US referral fee schedule, checked in October 2026.
8%: electronics and appliances
- Computers: 8%
- Consumer Electronics: 8%
- Full-Size Appliances: 8%
- Video Game Consoles: 8%, plus the $1.80 closing fee
- Electronics Accessories: 15% up to $100, 8% on the part above
12%: tools and parts
- Automotive and Powersports: 12%
- Base Equipment Power Tools: 12%
- Business, Industrial, and Scientific Supplies: 12%
- Tires: 10%
15%: most categories
Everything Else, Home and Kitchen, Toys and Games, Sports and Outdoors, Office Products, Pet Products, Lawn and Garden, Tools and Home Improvement, Footwear, Eyewear, Backpacks, Handbags and Luggage, Mattresses, Musical Instruments and AV Production all pay 15%.
Rates that depend on the price
Some categories charge one rate on the whole price, depending on where it falls:

The minimum and the closing fee
- Most categories charge at least $0.30 per item: a $1.50 item in Everything Else pays $0.30, not 23¢. Grocery, Media, Video Games, Video Game Consoles, Gift Cards and Fine Art have no minimum.
- Media (books, DVD, music, software, video), Video Games and Video Game Consoles add a $1.80 closing fee per item: a $50 book pays $7.50 + $1.80 = $9.30.
- On top of these come your selling plan (Professional $39.99 a month, or $0.99 per item on Individual) and FBA fees if Amazon ships for you.
