Etsy Fees Explained (US, 2026)
By Selling Fee Tools team ·
Etsy splits its charges into several small fees instead of one big one. Added up they come to around 10% of a typical order, or much more on a sale that came through Offsite Ads. This guide covers each fee for US sellers, from Etsy’s Help Center, checked in October 2026.
The fees
- Listing fee: $0.20 per listing when you publish it, again when an auto-renewed listing sells, and for each extra unit sold in one order.
- Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price plus shipping and gift wrap.
- Payment processing: 3% + $0.25 per order, on the total sale price including sales tax.
- Offsite Ads: 15% of the order total if a sale came from an Etsy ad on another site, or 12% for shops with $10,000 or more in sales in a year, never more than $100 per order. See Etsy Offsite Ads explained.
- Etsy Ads: whatever you choose to spend advertising on Etsy itself.
Etsy collects sales tax from US buyers and pays it to the state, so it isn’t yours to keep, but it does raise the processing fee.
Examples
| Order | Listing | Transaction | Processing | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $40 item + $8 shipping | $0.20 | $3.12 | $1.69 | $5.01 |
| Same, buyer pays 8% sales tax | $0.20 | $3.12 | $1.81 | $5.13 |
| $15 item + $5 shipping | $0.20 | $1.30 | $0.85 | $2.35 |
| $200 item, free shipping | $0.20 | $13.00 | $6.25 | $19.45 |
| $40 + $8 through Offsite Ads (15%) | $0.20 | $3.12 | $1.69 | $12.21 with $7.20 ads |
On a $48 order that is about 10.4% in fees, or 25% if it came through Offsite Ads.
Pricing tips
- Free shipping costs the same in fees as charging for shipping, because the transaction fee covers both. Build shipping into the price if it suits your shop.
- Small orders pay proportionally more: the $0.20 listing fee and $0.25 processing fee are fixed, so a $20 order pays 11.75% against 9.7% on a $200 order.
- Plan for Offsite Ads if many of your sales come through them.
How it compares with eBay
On the $48 order, eBay charges $6.93 without a Store, about 14.4%. See eBay vs Etsy fees for more sales compared.
