Etsy Offsite Ads Explained

Etsy advertises shops’ listings on Google, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and other sites, and charges a fee only when one of those ads leads to a sale. That fee, Offsite Ads, can more than double what Etsy takes from an order, so it is worth understanding. This guide follows Etsy’s Help Center, checked in October 2026.
What it costs
- 15% of the order total for shops that made less than $10,000 in sales in the past 365 days.
- 12% for shops that made $10,000 or more in any 365-day period.
- The fee never exceeds $100 for one order, or the equivalent in your currency.
- The order total includes the item price, shipping and gift wrap, but not the sales tax Etsy collects.
When you’re charged
You pay when a buyer clicks an Etsy ad for your listing on a partner site and then buys from your shop within 30 days.
Can you opt out?
- Shops that made less than $10,000 in the past 365 days can opt out.
- Once a shop has made $10,000 or more in any 365-day period, it can’t opt out, and pays the lower 12% rate.
Examples
A $40 item with $8 shipping, costing $25 to make and ship, including the $0.20 listing fee:

On expensive items the $100 cap kicks in: on a $1,000 order Offsite Ads would be $150 at 15%, but you pay $100.
Pricing with Offsite Ads in mind
- If a large share of your sales come through Offsite Ads, price as if every order paid the fee, or your margin on those orders can disappear.
- The cap makes Offsite Ads relatively cheaper on items over about $667 at 15%, or $833 at 12%.
- Offsite Ads are separate from Etsy Ads, the ads you choose to run on Etsy itself.
Outside the US
UK, Canadian and Australian shops pay the same 15% or 12%, with the cap converted from US$100 to your currency. Where Etsy adds VAT, GST or HST to its fees, it is added to the Offsite Ads fee too.
