Walmart WFS Fees Explained

By Selling Fee Tools team ·

Walmart Fulfillment Services (WFS) stores your stock in Walmart’s fulfillment centers and ships your orders. You pay a fulfillment fee per unit sold and a storage fee for the space your stock takes, on top of Walmart’s referral fee. This guide follows Walmart’s Marketplace pricing page, checked in October 2026.

Step 1: shipping weight

WFS charges by shipping weight, not the scale weight:

  1. Under 1 lb: use the unit weight.
  2. From 1 lb to 150 lb: use the unit weight or the dimensional weight, whichever is greater. Dimensional weight = length × width × height in inches ÷ 139.
  3. Add 0.25 lb for packaging and round up to the next pound.

Walmart’s example: a 6 lb item in a 12 × 10 × 10 inch box has a dimensional weight of 8.63 lb; plus 0.25 lb that is 8.88, rounded up to 9 lb.

Step 2: the standard fee

Shipping weightFee per unit
1 lb or less$3.45
2 lb$4.95
3 lb$5.45
4–20 lb$5.75 + $0.40 per lb over 4
21–30 lb$15.55 + $0.40 per lb over 21
31–50 lb$14.55 + $0.40 per lb over 31
51 lb and up$17.55 + $0.40 per lb over 51

The 9 lb widget pays $5.75 + 5 × $0.40 = $7.75. (The table is as Walmart prints it, including a lower base for 31–50 lb than for 21–30 lb.)

Step 3: extras for standard items

  • Apparel: +$0.50
  • Hazardous materials, such as chemicals, aerosols, pesticides and batteries: +$0.50
  • Retail price under $10: +$1.00
  • Oversize: +$3 if the longest side is over 48″, the median side over 30″, or length + girth over 105″; +$20 if the longest side is over 96″ or length + girth over 130″, and those items start at 90 lb of shipping weight.

Big and bulky items

Items over 150 lb, with a longest side over 108″, or length + girth over 165″ are big and bulky, up to 500 lb and 120″. They use the unit weight, rounded up, and cost $155 + $0.80 per lb over 90 lb. Walmart’s example: a 230.4 lb massage chair ships at 231 lb, $267.80.

Storage

  • $0.75 per cubic foot per month from January to September, charged by the day.
  • October to December: the same for items stored up to 30 days, plus $1.50 per cubic foot for items stored longer.
  • Items stored more than 12 months: $2.25 per cubic foot per month.

Walmart’s example: a 10 × 5.9 × 5.9 inch item is 0.201 cubic feet; stored 90 days from March, it costs $0.45.

Keep WFS costs down

  • Shrink the box. Dimensional weight often decides the fee: a 1.2 lb item in a 10 × 8 × 3 inch box ships at 2 lb because its dimensional weight is 1.73 lb.
  • Price above $10 where you can, to avoid the $1 low-price fee.
  • Send stock you’ll sell soon, especially before October, when long-stored items pay more.
