Etsy Payment Processing Fees by Country

Every Etsy order pays a payment processing fee for Etsy Payments, on top of the 6.5% transaction fee. The rate depends on the country of your shop’s bank account and, in some countries, where the buyer is. This guide compares the four countries we cover, from Etsy’s Help Center, checked in October 2026.

What it is charged on
The percentage is taken from the total sale price, which includes postage and the sales tax Etsy collects from the buyer. That is the one Etsy fee that grows with the buyer’s tax:
- A US order of $48 with 8% sales tax pays processing on $51.84: $1.81 instead of $1.69.
- A Canadian order of C$50 to Ontario with 13% HST pays processing on C$56.50: C$1.95 instead of C$1.75.
Tax on the processing fee
- UK: 20% VAT on the fee for shops without a VAT ID.
- Australia: 10% GST for shops without a tax ID.
- Canada: for shops not registered for GST/HST, no GST/HST on the processing fee when Etsy collected the tax from the buyer; registered shops pay GST/HST on it and usually claim it back.
