Etsy Fees in Canada (2026)

Etsy’s fees for Canadian shops include a regulatory operating fee, and GST/HST rules that depend on whether you’re registered. This guide covers shops with a Canadian bank account listing in Canadian dollars, from Etsy’s Help Center, checked in October 2026.
The fees
- Transaction fee: 6.5% of the item price, shipping and gift wrap.
- Regulatory operating fee: 0.50% of the same amount, on every order.
- Payment processing: 3% + C$0.25 for buyers in Canada or the US, 4% + C$0.25 for buyers elsewhere, on the total sale price including any sales tax Etsy collects.
- Listing fee: US$0.20, converted to Canadian dollars when charged.
- Offsite Ads: 15%, or 12% for shops with US$10,000 or more in sales in a year, never more than US$100 per order.
GST/HST
- Not registered: Etsy adds GST/HST to Canadian buyers’ orders at checkout and pays it to the tax authorities. It then doesn’t charge GST/HST on its transaction and processing fees for those orders, but does on the regulatory fee, listing fee and ads, at your province’s rate.
- Registered, with your ID added: GST/HST is in your listing price and you remit it yourself. Etsy charges GST/HST on every fee, which you can usually claim back.
- Etsy also collects PST in British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
- You must register once your sales pass C$30,000.
Examples
A shop in Ontario sells a C$40 item with C$10 shipping, listing fee left out:

For the Ontario buyer, processing is charged on C$56.50 including HST, so it is C$1.95 rather than C$1.75.
Etsy or eBay in Canada?
