Whatnot Fees Explained (2026)

By Selling Fee Tools team ·

Whatnot, the live-shopping marketplace, charges sellers two fees on every order: a commission and payment processing. This guide explains both for US sellers, from Whatnot’s Help Center, checked in November 2026.

Commission

Commission is a percentage of the sold price only. Shipping and tax aren’t included.

  • Standard tier: 8% in most categories, for sellers with under $15,000 of sales in a four-week period.
  • Coins & Money: 4% at the Standard tier.
  • Higher tiers: your total sales across all categories over four weeks set your tier, and higher tiers lower the rate by category. Whatnot says rates go as low as 3% for select sellers. Tiers reset every four weeks.

For live sales the rate follows the show’s category; for marketplace and shop sales, the product’s category. Seller Hub shows your current tier and the rate charged on each order.

Payment processing

Every order pays 2.9% of the total order value plus $0.30. Unlike commission, processing is charged on what the buyer pays in full: item, shipping and sales tax.

The same sale at different rates

A $50 sale with $5 shipping and no tax:

Commission rateCommissionProcessingAll feesYou receive
8% (Standard)$4.00$1.90$5.90$49.10
6.5% (a higher tier)$3.25$1.90$5.15$49.85
4% (Coins & Money)$2.00$1.90$3.90$51.10

What you receive includes the $5 shipping; your postage comes out of that.

High-value orders

Since 14 January 2026, Whatnot charges 0% commission on the part of a sale above $1,500 in select categories, such as Coins & Money. Sports breaks and surprise products are excluded. Processing is still charged on the full amount.

A $2,000 coin at 4% pays commission on $1,500 only: $60 instead of $80. With $58.30 processing, you receive $1,881.70.

Tax on Whatnot’s fees

Some US states require Whatnot to charge tax on its commissions and fees, so the deduction on your statement can be slightly higher than the rates above.
