TikTok Shop UK Fees Explained

TikTok Shop UK takes one main fee from sellers, a commission on each completed order, plus any affiliate commission you agree with creators. This guide follows TikTok Shop’s UK Commission Rate Policy, its Platform Commission Fee guide and its category file, all dated September 2025 and checked in October 2026.
The commission rate
- The standard Commission Fee rate is 9%, and it includes VAT, so nothing is added on top.
- Products in the Electronics categories and selected Beauty & Personal Care sub-categories get a 4-point reduction to an effective 5%. TikTok’s category file lists them: for example Household Appliances, mobile phones, laptops, headphones, hair dryers and electric shavers, as well as pre-owned phones, tablets and smart watches.
- New sellers and Seller Missions can bring the rate down further for a time, but reductions don’t stack: one per product.
What the commission is charged on
TikTok’s formula is:
Commission = (net sales + customer-paid shipping + platform discount − net sales refund − platform discount refund) × rate
- Net sales is the original price minus your discount and TikTok’s platform discount, which is what the customer pays for the item.
- Shipping the customer pays is included.
- Platform discounts are funded by TikTok, and TikTok pays them into your settlement, so they are added back.
- Refunds take the commission back off: a full return refunds the full commission.

Affiliate commission
If a creator sells your product through TikTok’s affiliate programme, you also pay the commission rate you set, on the product price minus seller and platform discounts. Shipping isn’t included. It comes out of your settlement with TikTok’s own commission.
A £30 dress with £3 shipping, sold through a creator at 10%:
- TikTok commission: 9% of £33 = £2.97
- Affiliate commission: 10% of £30 = £3.00
- Settlement: £33 − £5.97 = £27.03
- With an item cost of £8 and £3 postage, profit is £16.03
VAT
TikTok’s commission already includes VAT. If you’re VAT-registered, you still owe VAT on your sales: one sixth of the VAT-inclusive amount you receive for the order. On the £33 dress order that is £5.50, and the profit becomes £10.53. The UK VAT calculator works out the VAT in any price.
How it compares with the US
TikTok Shop in the US charges a referral fee by category instead, mostly 6%, on the customer payment plus platform discount, excluding tax. UK sellers pay more per order but with VAT included.
